The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a government funded, youth development programme which provides young people (age 15-17) with opportunities to gain new skills and experiences for work and life. Part of the programme sees teams of young people completing 60 hours of volunteering towards a Social Action Project. This year, Broadway Lodge have been very lucky to be chosen as the charity that a south west based NCS group agreed to fundraise for.
Ten members of the youth group spent the day fundraising in Weston-super-Mare on the 9th August 2018 and with the generosity of the public, they raised an amazing total of over £300. This amount will enable us to invest in new materials to help change the lives of our client’s as they transition into their recovery journey.
We are looking forward to meeting the group again at their celebration party on the 13th September and to tell the attendees more about what the money will be able to help with.
We would like to send our sincere thanks and appreciation to NCS and the group involved as well as the public who kindly donated. To find out more about the National Citizen Service, or to sign up a young person to future programmes, visit their website here: http://ncswest.co.uk/
