The 75th anniversary of the end of WWII was last Friday (8th May) which was a day of celebration as well as remembrance.
To mark this years’ VE Day at Broadway Lodge, a two-minute silence was held at 11am to pay tribute to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line and who gave their all so that millions of people could live in freedom for generations afterwards.
Staff and clients were surprised to have Winston himself on shift as Senior Support Worker (also known as Big John!) who can be seen in the photos below. At lunchtime, Chef Matthew provided a delicious barbeque for everyone and the sunny, warm weather was perfect to dine al fresco. More treats were enjoyed when tea and cake was served at 3pm.
The below photos show members of staff with Big John dressed as Winston Churchill and a client’s drawing on the whiteboard in the main hall.
