We received a very special visit from a songwriting legend last week. Chris Difford, co-founder and guitarist of Squeeze and a songwriter in his own right, visited Broadway Lodge in the evening of Friday 21stSeptember to conduct a share to the current patients.
Chris is no stranger to addiction and is in recovery himself with 26 years sobriety. He is passionate about helping others who suffer with addiction and has shared his experiences at rehabs and prisons in the past.
Broadway Lodge are honoured to have been visited by Chris who generously donated his time and talent to share his fascinating story. Twenty patients were treated to the intimate share, where Chris talked about the past and his journey during his time in renowned British rock band Squeeze, whilst performing some acoustic tracks he’d written including Take Me I’m Yours. The lyrics in his song ‘Sobriety’ particularly struck a chord with some listeners.
Chris also performed at the beginning of our annual Reunion the following day, kicking it off in style which we are very thankful and grateful for.
If you are interested in watching Chris perform (and we highly recommend it!), gig dates at venues around the country can be found on his website here. To read about his story, his book published in 2017 called ‘Some Fantastic Place – My Life In and Out of Squeeze’ is available now.
