Partners& Golfers Raise £16,806.25 for Broadway Lodge

On Thursday 12th September, a team from Partners& (nationwide insurance company), set out on a mighty golfing challenge to raise money for Broadway Lodge. Trustee and Partners& Group Commercial Director, Chris Jelf, initiated the challenge because he wanted to do something special as a way to celebrate our 50th anniversary milestone.

The challenge was to complete 54 holes at Weston-super-Mare Golf Club. Chris Jelf (pictured above, second left) was joined by Phil Barton, Partners& CEO (left), John Marks, Partners& Client Partner (second right), and fellow Broadway Lodge Trustee, Colin Hall-Tomkin (right).

On Thursday 12th September they braved the chilly, windy conditions and accomplished three laps of the 18-hole course without the use of buggies, all in 12 hours.

After their first lap before midday, they had a quick break in the clubhouse for hot drinks whilst members of the Broadway Lodge team met them to give their support and encouragement.

After another seven and a half hours on the course, Chris, Phil, John and Colin successfully completed the challenge at 7.32pm as the sun was setting and raised a whopping £16,806.25 for Broadway Lodge.

We feel very lucky to have the support of Partners&, who voted for Broadway Lodge to be their charity of the year (2024/25) in the south west.

Phil Barton said: “The work that CEO John Aizlewood and his team do is truly transformational for individuals, their families, and the communities in which they live and work. Whilst the 54 holes was quite a challenge, Chris, John, Colin and I were driven on by the work that the team do at Broadway Lodge. They have impacted thousands of individuals, their families and friends over the last 50 years. We’re thrilled to be a small part of the great work that they do!”

The golfers received donations from 156 supporters including generous sponsorships from Allianz, BPE Solicitors, The Cow and Sow (Clifton), and Michelmore.

We cannot thank Chris, Phil, John and Colin enough for the incredible effort they put into this challenge and to all of the amazing sponsors and people who donated. This money will make a real difference to the charity and clients and we are very grateful.
