On the evening of the Reunion (Saturday 22nd September), the Broadway’s Got Talent fundraiser was held, organised by Project Coordinator Wendy Ruddick and former patient David Rowland. The venue was at St.Paul’s Church in Weston-super-Mare which was a beautiful building, providing a spacious, ambient setting, perfect for the occasion.
This was a fun event where guests relaxed, socialised and enjoyed the various performances by participants, all of whom have undertaken residential treatment for addiction at Broadway Lodge.
The evening was packed full of talent and included Nichola (pictured above), who sang covers of popular 80’s and 90’s tracks, David and Rob who performed their own music, another David who performed acoustic songs and Alan, who played tunes including ‘Under the Sea’ on his steel drum, impressively built by himself. A former client from the Netherlands rediscovered his love for photography art since leaving treatment. He presented his story to the crowd and explained the meaning behind a selection of his creations. He also had many of his prints for sale on the night.
Donations were made for drinks and a delicious selection of home baked cakes and treats. To raise further money, a raffle was held and a total of 22 lucky winners were selected for different prizes. We’d like to send a massive thank you to all of the local individuals and organisations who generously donated products and vouchers, including a tablet from Tesco, chocolates from Asda, various items from Boots, massage vouchers from Lesley (our wonderful receptionist) and award-winning Beauty Oasis Spa, coffee and cake for two at Loves Café, a breakfast at Central Perks café and a Shellac nail treatment at Identity salon in Clevedon.
All proceeds from admissions, donations and raffle tickets raised a total of £503 which we are so grateful for. This money will go towards the Broadway Lodge charity bed fund.
Thank you to everyone who attended as well as volunteers and staff who helped make it a successful and enjoyable event.
