Almost 33 years ago Broadway Lodge had a very special visit from the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
On the 27th May 1986, the Princess landed in a helicopter on a very blustery Weston-Super-Mare seafront and made her way to Totterdown Lane to visit the staff and clients. Apart from being a morale boost to clients and staff, the visit provided welcome nationwide publicity for the charity.
We were recently contacted by someone researching Princess Diana who sent us a news clip of the event shown on ITN back in 1986. We’ve enjoyed looking back at this momentous occasion and wanted to share it with our followers.
Three years later Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, also visited which helped to showcase our facility once again and demonstrate the pioneering work for addiction that is done here.
If any members of the Royal Family who are interested in seeing how we help to transform the lives of individuals suffering addiction we would be overjoyed to welcome them here in the future.
